PorkSword was formed in 1997. Originally consisting of five people
(Sam Gilbert, Lee McLean, Tim Holt, Hugh McIntyre and Vintosh Sadhai).
The band was formed originally just to pull chicks, when that didn't work
they decided to try and play some music instead.
After numerous name changes (about eight), after a bit of controversy they
settled on PorkSword in mid 1998 and that has seemed to stick well with
them.
During the latter parts of '98 saw a few additions to the PorkSword line
up. Andrew Thompson a very talented pianist joined for the world
famous Leebo Rock Concert in August '98 for a bit of keyboard, Cameron
Curtis with his quality drumming skills and also some percussion.
After performing at various rock festivals over the last few years such
as:
Brentstock (97, 98)
Rock Fest (98)
LEEBO (98)
Bus Stop 87 (99)
the band
has a lot more experience at live performance.
After entering the '99 Rick eisteddfod Battle of The Bands, with two of
their best songs (Out Of Line and Caress), they were disappointed not to
win and were outraged to see who actually did beat them, (some shitty little
band full of up themselves teeny boppers called Strut).
Currently the band recording for a compilation CD with bands such as as
Nehemiah,
41, Septic Goat, Big Shonky Fat Man, Herman the German and Peacock, which
will hopefully be out mid to late september.
PorkSword is hoping to get a few more gigs in the near future and do a
bit more recording and maybe put out an EP. So keep your ears out
for this up and coming young band out of Ballarat.
